Hairspring does not automatically send personal data to us or third parties. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. The app makes no network requests.
Hairspring asks for microphone access only when you start a live watch measurement. It uses the microphone to listen to the watch and measure its timekeeping. Live audio is analysed in memory on your device and is not transmitted by the app. Unless you enable Raw Capture, it is not recorded or stored.
The one exception is under your direct control: if you switch on Record Raw Audio in Settings and start a measurement, the app writes that recording to its own folder on your device so you can review or share it yourself. Hairspring never uploads it automatically; it leaves your device only when you choose to export it. Raw captures remain until you delete them in the Files app or delete Hairspring, and Hairspring excludes them from automatic device and iCloud backups.
You can withdraw microphone access at any time in iOS Settings. You can stop future recordings by switching off Record Raw Audio in Hairspring Settings.
Saved measurements, watch names, and diagnostic logs are stored on your device only. If you have iCloud backup switched on, they may be included in your own device backup, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. Hairspring never sends these files to us automatically — we operate no server.
Saved measurements and watch names remain until you delete them from History or delete Hairspring. The diagnostic log contains signal levels and timing statistics, not microphone audio; it is replaced when a new measurement begins and can also be deleted in the Files app.
If you choose to email support, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you send. We use them only to reply and troubleshoot the issue you reported. Our email provider processes and stores support messages for us and is required to protect them consistently with this policy and applicable law. We do not sell support information or use it for advertising.
We retain a support message only as long as needed to answer and troubleshoot the request. You can ask us to delete a support message and its attachments at any time by emailing the address below.
Hairspring is a measurement tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children.
If a future version changes these practices, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
